Current Version 3.2

V 3.2 Improvements

Thanks to Darrell and Charles over at Cardinal Surveys in Odessa for pointing out an error in the fluid weight calculations.

V 3.1 Improvements

There were several wrong values for pipe drift in the larger, heavy walled casings. Thanks to Mr. Scott Ogier of Devon for pointing out the problem.

I also made some minor cosmetic changes to the forms.

V 3.0 Improvements

There 3 new tabs on the program: Proppant Laden Fluid (thanks to Jeff Wells), Sinker Bars, and CBL Arrival Times(calculate sonic arrival times).

I also am using a different type of control to display much of the tabular data. Not that I really wanted to, but VB5 has a limited number of controls you can place on one form and I exceeded that number on the update. The MSFlexGrid control allows all the data to be displayed on one control, but it has a serious down side. It will not easily print. The standard print command will print a large black block in its place. I was forced to remove the print button and command.

Not all is lost though. If you need to make hard copies to send to the field, just hold down on the (Alt) key and press the (Print Screen) key. This will place the graphic on the Windows Clip Board. You can then open MS Word, or the likes, and copy the image to that for printing. In some ways this is better in that you can easily print two graphics per page.

The program has also gone through a lot of house cleaning. You will find it much easier to go back a couple of steps in any module and re-calculate an answer. The forms will remove most of the previous calculations.

V 2.1 Improvements

Updated email address and hyperlink to website. No changes in the program.

V 2.0 Improvements

I have added another tab to the program that will cross calculate "Pounds per Gallon", "Pounds per Cubic Foot", "Specific Gravity", "PSI per Foot", and "Hydrostatic Pressure"

There was an error in the program on the Bailer Tab. Possible bailer sizes were offered by falling into several categories of Small Pipe I. D. sizes. Ranges of internal diameter were defined as greater than a certain value to less than a another value. Only problem was that a few of the pipe combinations had internal diameters of exactly 2", 3", 4", etc... So, you would have no bailer sizes to select from. Oh well, a few <= (less than or equal to) symbols cured that.

There were several requests to have the program calculate how many feet of fill you would obtain per bailer run. Makes good sense, so I added that feature to the bailer tab. Thanks for the feedback.

How do I operate URTB?

Download Instructions

I do not have FTP capabilities on this freebee web site. So we are going to trick your browser into downloading the file. The hyperlink below is to a WinZip file. Once you click on the hyperlink, your browser will ask you if you would like to save or open the file.

Select save and download it to a temporary directory on your hard drive.

Installation Instructions

HOLD YOUR HORSES

Are you upgrading from an earlier version of URTB? If so, go to Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs, and uninstall the old version first. You could just copy over the new exe file, but I do not recommend this practice. Go ahead and uninstall the old program first. This will keep things like your Windows Registry clean.

If you added an icon to your desktop for the old version, you will have to delete it manually before you add another icon for the upgrade.

You will need a copy of WinZip to decompress the installation files. If you are not familiar with WinZip, download their evaluation program and try it out for free. It is a MUST HAVE for any computer user. Play with it for a while and cough up the $29. It is world class software.

Now open Window Explorer, go to the directory where you saved the file and double click the file icon to start the UnZipping process. When prompted, save the files in the same directory where you have the original zip file.

There will now be a setup.exe file in the list. You can double click it in Windows Explorer to start the installation process. Just answer the prompts and the installation will be complete. The default installation will be in C:\Program Files\URTBv32.

URTB was written and compiled using MS Visual Basic 5. I have included all the support files you could possibly need for the installation.

I hope you find the software useful. I have used these small routines on a daily basis for some time now and have made significant efforts to assure that all the data and calculations are correct. However, use this software at your own risk. I do not warrant or guarantee URTB in any way. If you should find an error, please email me with a detailed description where I can re-create the problem and fix it for future releases of URTB.

Do you have any ideas for small routines that would be useful tools to add to URTB? Let me know and I'll try to add them on future releases.
